Merry Christmas!
This week I’ll be releasing the first part of the novel I’ve been working on for many years … (I started writing this story in my twenties… I’ve carried it around with me and wrote versions of it for years… I love it and hope you will too).
‘The Girl With The Last Light’ is the story of a girl made different from everyone else. She’s born with a scar on her chest that shines. Her father and brother and the people of the village shame her for her light. They can’t understand it for magic has long been gone and forgotten.
She doesn’t know of the old angel who came out of retirement to create her, nor the little spirit bird who breathed the possibility of her into being.
Sophie knows only her mother hadn’t been a strong woman, and that having Sophie probably killed her. She knows she is a shame to her father and her mother had been something he called ‘a dreamer’ and that this wasn’t a good thing.
Sophie’s birth releases an old magic that starts to change the world creature by magical creature by star women by frost flower until spring almost arrives and the greatest enemy of the land and people, the old, dead king awakens.
In the face of a terrifying enemy, with a collection of unlikely allies, Sophie discovers that the light within her is hope. And she must use it.
I’m excited to share the first part of The Girl With The Last Light this Christmas week with you.
Stay tuned. I hope you enjoy the first part and want more:)
From frosty Canada where I’m visiting family,
With love,
Lucy
